Billed as the oldest and largest high school indoor meet in the country, the Bishop Loughlin Games welcomes teams from across the Eastern Seaboard.

The Marine Corps Holiday Classic has become a fantastic way to celebrate the week between Christmas and the New Year. High school teams from around the East Coast come to the Armory for a memorable and festive showcase.

These NYRR-sponsored events are open to all runners with just a $20 per person entry fee. Events range from 800 to 5,000 meters (plus some fun relays). There are no awards, but that doesn’t hinder the fun.

A season-opening Invitational which, over the last few years, has produced some great early-season marks from some of the leading East Coast college teams.

The Millrose Trials prove that the Armory Foundation is committed to the long tradition of high schools at the Games. “The mission is to bring back excellence to the Millrose Games, to great races, record-breaking races, and to make a stronger link between the high school kids and the professional athletes,” says Ray Flynn.

Established as an Armory meet by Archbishop Molloy High School in 1995, the Molloy Stanner Games is one of the longest-running features at the New Balance Track & Field Center. From its inception, the Games have drawn top talent from around the East Coast.

The Saturday at the Armory program has truly showcased the local collegians, as well as some programs outside the area. Since the program began, teams from both Puerto Rico and Canada have made the trip to the Big Apple to join the party.

The New Balance Games do not exclusively feature the high schools, but much of the program is dedicated to the young stars making a name for themselves before college recruiters. The NBG also highlight elite professional fields are the likes of Natasha Hastings, Jenny Simpson and Craig Miller were 2011 winners.

More than 3,000 of the City's best high school track and field athletes from the Public Schools Athletic League, Catholic High School Athletic Association and independent schools compete in the NYC Mayor's Cup Indoor Track & Field Championships to determine the "Best in the City."

Now 11 years old, the New Balance Collegiate Invitational has simply become the biggest and best college indoor meet in the nation with powerhouse teams from across the nation making the trip to The Armory. This is an invitational event with an eye on both regional and national interests.

The New Jersey Varsity Classic is not just open to scholastic teams from New Jersey, as schools from New York and Pennsylvania have also provided champions. Last year, Virginia-bound Nick Vena provided fireworks with a 70-foot shot put, shattering his own record.

Simply the most historic indoor track & field event in the world, the Millrose Games is heading uptown this year, moving from Madison Square Garden to The Armory. The 2012 Millrose Games are expecting to see challenges to long-standing records as the Armory track is renown for fast times.

Note to fans — Doors will open at 3:30 pm for the Millrose Games and all fans are urged to use public transit. The Armory is very accessible by public transportation from the major hubs in the city. The A & C trains both stop at the 168th station along with the 1 line. The A is the express line, making stops in Lower Manhattan (including Penn Station, Times Square and Columbus Circle), before jetting directly toward the Washington Heights area. The C train serves more local stops and takes longer to make its way to 168th. The 1 line has a slightly different path along the west side of the City, but ends up in the same place. The 4-5-6 lines, which serve the Upper East Side, all stop at Grand Central Station, which is a short and interesting walk down 42nd Street to the Times Square stops for the A, C and 1 trains.

Not only can athletes proclaim supremacy over the entire borough of Staten Island, the event winners automatically qualify for the PSAL City Championships. Last year's team winners at these championships were Susan Wagner for the boys and Port Richmond for the girls.

The MAAC Indoor Championships — held at the Armory annually since 2004 — has long been dominated by the Jaspers of Manhattan College, but the margins have been narrowing on the men’s side and St. Peter’s broke through for its first women’s title last year.

The Big East — which now stretches from the Northeast to southern Florida and into the Midwest — has long provided high quality competition with the likes of international superstars such as Roger Kingdom, Sydney Maree and Lauryn Williams.
