Overview: The Dash In the Dark consists of relay races, run at night, under the lights. The races will be run on a spectator friendly course consisting of grass. Each school enters teams of three runners. Each runner will run a 3,200-meter leg (two-1,600 meter loops) and then hand off the baton to their teammate. The magic of this event is in runners of all calibers competing as a team in a unique relay distance at night. Kick off the 2011 season in style.

Where

Oakfield-Alabama High School located at
7001 Lewiston Rd.
Oakfield, NY 14125
8 miles west of Batavia, 45 minutes from Downtown Rochester & Buffalo.

Course

The course is a fast, flat, grass, 1600 meter loop around the school grounds. Each leg will run two loops. The course will be safe and well lit. We will be using the lights from the stadium along with rented light towers.

Format

Teams consist of 3 runners. Each school can enter 2 teams (A and B) in the Gold race (fastest race), 2 teams in the Blue race (C and D), and unlimited teams in the White race. The 'A' team should be your top 3 boys/girls ... the 'B' team is your 4-6 boys/girls ... etc.). The Blue and White races may be combined depending on the number of participants. Any additional runners on your team can compete in the White race by running the first leg to receive a time for the 3200m distance.

Entry

$150 per school or $75 for a single team (only Girls or only Boys).

Timing

Chip timing and results will be done by YellowJacket racing.

Concessions

Our concession stand will have t-shirts and food, drink, and snakes for sale.
