Overview: Each March, nearby Coogan’s sponsors the Salsa, Blues and Shamrocks 5k run through the neighborhood streets of Washington Heights as well as a loop through historic Fort Tryon Park. More than 7,000 competitors run in celebration of the strong community ties and rich cultural diversity of Northern Manhattan. Peter Walsh also reports that there will be more than 25 musical groups and a plethora of youth races.
