An International Glimpse At Armory Prep

With such focus on the IAAF World Championships back in South Korea, the New York bureau of the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) visited Thursday to showcase the facility and the Armory College Prep program. Bureau Chief Jangwon (Johnny) Lim interviewed Derrick Adkins, who oversees the educational programming for the Armory Foundation, as well as three students who participate in both indoor track and the College Prep program.

The students were asked about their sport, the facility and the discipline required to be a successful student and athlete.

Armory College Prep serves New York City high school student-athletes, in need of a helping hand, to realize their full potential. Each year — thanks to program supporters The Carnegie Corporation, ConEdison, Citibank, New Balance and the New York Community Trust suggested by Karin and David Kuhns — more than 150 students receive the academic support, individual counseling and encouragement necessary to gain admission to college as well as financial aid to pay for it.
