A Quick Look Back
One month in on the new, independent ArmoryTrack.com and — despite an earthquake and a hurricane hitting the City — we have launched some exciting features and have more on the way.
The most high-profile feature here has been Daegu Central, where we covered the IAAF World Championships with the help of Elliott Denman, who was 'on the ground' in South Korea. Denman's profile of Matthew Centrowitz, who won a bronze medal in the 1,500-meter run, was picked up by the websites of Track & Field News, Runners World and LetsRun. He also talked to Felix Sanchez, Nick Willis, Leonel Manzano, Christian Taylor and Ciaran O'Lionaird about the possibilities of coming to The Armory for the Millrose Games.
We also posed that question to Natasha Hastings about that during a USATF online chat and her response? "I think it's likely." Much more coming on Millrose in the coming weeks.
We also posted stories which demonstrated that The Armory remains a busy place in the summer, be it visits from Geoffrey Canada of the Harlem Children's Zone, Heidi Klum of Lifetime's Project Runway or the folks from the Korean Broadcasting System.
We've had diaries from standout high schoolers Samantha Nadel, Will Isenberg and Nina Sarmiento.
There have been a number of interactive features — the introduction of our cross country mapping initiative, record-breaking traffic on our Facebook, YouTube and Twitter accounts and the launch of our new Facebook events page, where fans can sign up for the meets to ensure that they get the latest news and information.
Now with cross country season upon us, we hope you are ready for the 2011-12 season. And no where can you be more prepared than from a daily visit to ArmoryTrack.
