In A New York Minute

by Brett Hoover — posted on 10/21/2011

We know it's coming. In little more than two weeks, New York's city streets will be teeming with folks who will be moving really slow the day after.

But instead of looking forward, Runner's World has cooked up a great reason to look back at 2010. They call it The New York Minute and we figure it is best to let them explain:

Last year, when the ING New York City Marathon swelled to a record 45,000 runners, we set out to visually capture the world's most compelling 26.2-miler in a new way. We stationed five photographers on the course (one in each borough) plus another at the finish line. They shot what was around them during the same pre-arranged intervals, taking more than 5,000 photos throughout the day. You can browse the images; search them by location, time, name, or bib number; and share any photo via Facebook, Twitter, or email. Each minute tells its own distinctly New York story.

If you are a serious runner or have close ties to the NYC Marathon, you might want to set some time aside for the browsing.

It's going to take a lot more time than a New York minute.
