Another Jersey Duck
Kyle Levermore of Don Bosco Prep is the latest New Jersey high school product to choose the University of Oregon as a college destination.
Levermore, who ran 8:55.41 last spring to win the New Jersey Meet of Champions 3,200 meters, missed the recent Manhattan Invitational because of an injury.
Levermore will join a roster that currently includes Edward Cheserek, Jeremy Elkaim and Brett Johnson from the Garden State.
Levermore made visits to Florida State and Texas prior to visiting Oregon, and then skipped a scheduled trip to Wisconsin.
"After Oregon I knew I was wasting my time (by going to anywhere else)," Levermore told DyeStat. "I have always seen myself as a laid back person and I mixed well with the people I met on the West coast. It looks like home and it feels like home."
Levermore won the only invitational meet he has entered this fall, but he has missed several weeks with a stress reaction in his tibia. He hopes to be cleared within the next week and return to his team, which is ranked 15th nationally.
"I really want to get back and help the program," he said.
