The Manhattan men's team captured its 16th straight title at the 2012 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championship at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center in New York City.

The Jaspers won the meet with a team score of 177. Rider finished second with 117 points. Saint Peter's was third with 98, followed by Iona (89) and Marist (13).

Iona's Jake Byrne set a new standard in the men's 5,000m run with a time of 14:27.36. Teammate Mitch Goose got the crowd on its feet with a blistering, record time 3:59.26 in the men's mile. It was the first sub-four minute mile in the MAAC Championship and the second in Iona program history. Goose was named the meet's Most Outstanding Performer for Track Events. Yet another Gael, Leonard Korir, posted an auto qualifier to the NCAAs in the 3k (7:51.86).

Saint Peter's Isaiah Harris was chosen as the Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events. Harris won the high jump (2.09m) and triple jump (15.55m).

Saint Peter's women's team captured its second straight title as the Peahens won the meet with a team score of 233 3/4. Manhattan finished second with 126 1/4. Iona was third with 100 points, followed by Rider (87), Loyola (44), and Marist (26).

Iona's Marion Joly-Testault opened the meet with a record in the women's 5,000m with a time of 16:44.94 Manhattan's Karolin Wagner broke a championship record in the women's pole vault with a height of 3.50m. Wagner, and teammate Andrea Nyback, were named the Co-Most Outstanding Performers for Field Events. The Jaspers' Cara Rostant — who set a new mark in the women's 200m with a time of 24.69 and won the 400m dash — was named the meet's Most Outstanding Performer for Track Events.

New to the MAAC Championship in 2012 was the running of the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles for both the men and women, replacing the 55-meter equivalents in order to match the NCAA Championships. The winners of each of those races have now set the standard for future conference championships.
