It's Flynn Again

Dr. Norbert Sander — the Executive Director of the Armory Foundation — has made several announcements for 2013 on the heels of an extremely successful Millrose Games' debut at The Armory.

The biggest news is that Ray Flynn, an Olympic miler before becoming president of Flynn Sports Management, will return as the meet director. Flynn and The Armory have agreed on a three-year commitment.

"We are more than pleased to report that Ray Flynn has signed a multi-year agreement to continue as meet director of the Millrose Games," Dr. Sander said. "Ray has done a terrific job bringing the very best of our professional athletes to this great meet. He works extremely well with our staff and brings a wealth of experience and integrity to our event."

In Flynn's first season as meet director a sold-out Armory crowd witnessed an exciting meet that included the top elite, college and high school track & field athletes.

"It is indeed an honor to be the meet director of the Millrose Games," Flynn said. "I am really looking forward to working with the Armory Foundation and helping continue the tradition of the Millrose Games being one of the world's best and most entertaining meets."

The Armory will also continue its successful relationship with Nicholas & Lence Communications, which brought more attention to the Millrose Games in 2012 than at any time in the last decade.

"In Cristyne and Nick Nicholas we have two of New York's most veteran and best-known publicists," Sander emphasized "They are part of a dynamic team that is being formed to bring the Millrose Games to an even higher level."

Long-time Millrose Games and Armory publicist David Herscher will also continue his role in 2013.

The 106th Millrose Games is strongly considering a move to Feb. 16, 2013, during the finale of the eastern pro season.

"This would allow athletes the added opportunity to compete a week earlier at the USATF Classic in Fayetteville on Feb. 9, and then later at the Millrose Games in New York City," Dr. Sander said. "It would remove any potential conflicts and place the indoor season schedule squarely in service to our great athletes."

Tickets to next year's Millrose Games will go on sale to 2012 ticketholders on Sept. 4 following the Labor Day weekend.
