Sunday's For The Youth

Despite the ING New York City Marathon coming soon (Nov. 4), the host New York Road Runners aren't taking a break from their youth mission.

Point of proof — more than 1,200 boys and girls will participate in the New York Road Runners Youth Jamboree on Sunday from 7:45 am to 5 pm here at The Armory.

Fun, low-competition events are held for boys and girls in kindergarten to fifth grade during the first session and sixth to eighth grade during the second session. There will be a 55-meter dash for those in pre-kindergarten at 1:30 pm (participants must be at least four years old). High school students are invited to participate in the 55-meter dash and 800-meter run during the second session.

There is no cost of admission to the Jamboree. Children of all experience levels, particularly beginners, are welcome. Each participant receives a t-shirt, water bottle and goodie bag.

If there is enough space, you can register at The Armory starting at 7:45 a.m. on event day. Please complete all registration forms in advance and bring them with you to the event. Teams must have all forms filled out with parent/guardian signatures prior to coming to the registration table.
