Wilson Picks Florida State
Ajee' Wilson of New Jersey's Neptune Academy of Allied Health and Science — who won the girls' IAAF World Youth Championships 800-meter run in France over the summer — has announced her choice for college. The sought-after local star will be headed to Florida State University in the fall.
"I feel relieved that it's over," she told Rich Bevensee of the Star-Ledger, "but I actually had a good experience. Some people find the college search stressful. I was able to enjoy the entire process."
Wilson — who picked the Seminoles over Texas, LSU and Tennessee — ran at The Armory on Friday night at the Metropolitan Coaches Collegiate Invitational, clocking 2:48.31 in the 1,000m — the No. 10 time in U.S. history.
Her world championship 800m time of 2:02.64 broke the 1979 N.J. record set by U.S. Olympian Joetta Clark.
