because no other school has won the title in almost 10 years.
Event 2 Girls 200 Meter Dash Division 1 Prelims
1 137 Lynne Layne 12 New Rochelle-1 24.34
2 806 Christie Verdier 10 Baldwin-1 24.68

2 1220 Adrenee Sterritt 12 Boys & Girls-1 55.88
3 855 Ashlea McLaughlin 11 Uniondale-1 56.26
NOTES: Three of the states best square off to see if the winner can go under 55.
With how far they all have to travel it may come down to who handles it the best.
Event 4 Girls 800 Meter Run Division 1
1 1152 Kristy Longman 11 Sayville-1 2:11.27
2 1116 Sarah McCurdy 10 Bayshore-1 2:11.52
3 259 Caroline King 11 Scotia-1 2:12.07
4 832 Maegan Krifchin 12 JFK Bellmore-1 2:12.14
5 1341 Century Williams 10 St. John's Prep1 2:12.84
6 935 Emily Moore 10 Pine Bush-1 2:12.92
7 849 Brianna Welch 8 North Shore-1 2:12.94
NOTES: The race of the day and perhaps the meet as the top 7 runners are all seeded
with 1.7 seconds. Longman split 2:09 at Penn and McCurdy is a proven winner. King
has shown a ton of strength and likes to run from the front and Krifchin closes very
well over the final 200m. Welch is the youngster with a ton of experience already.
Event 7 Girls 100 Meter Hurdles Division 1 Prelims
1 854 Ashley Hendrix 10 Uniondale-1 14.37
2 1206 Lindsay Rowe 11 Benjamin Cardozo 14.61
3 1235 Janique James 12 South Shore-1 14.62
4 1307 Saleena Abdur-Rashed Bshp Loughlin-1 14.70
NOTES: With cool weather expected don’t expect any great times here. If the track
is wet it will affect this race. Hendrix is the top seed but Abdur-Rasheed is the
sleeper here. She’s a proven winner.
Event 8 Girls 400 Meter Hurdles Division 1
1 1205 Dalilah Muhammad 10 Benjamin Cardozo 1:02.05
2 125 Breanda Crump 9 Mount Vernon-1 1:02.84
3 1125 Michelle Brutus 11 Longwood-1 1:03.81
4 955 Catherine Croce 12 Wallkill-1 1:03.84
15 132 Assata Cowart 11 New Rochelle-1 1:05.14
NOTES: Crump gets better and better each week and likes to go out hard and hang on
so this could come down to who dies the least. Muhammad is tough and the clear favorite.
Defending champions Cowart stepped up big at states last year and look for her to
make a run at it from the slower section.
Event 11 Girls Long Jump Division 1
1 826 Racquel Anderson 12 Hempstead-1 18-05.75
2 854 Ashley Hendrix 10 Uniondale-1 18-03.50
3 167 Whitney Ford 12 White Plains-1 18-00.00
NOTES: Defending indoor champ and Penn Relays Champ Lynne Layne fouled out at her
qualifier so that opens the door for these three to battle it out.
Event 12 Girls Triple Jump Division 1
1 818 Nwamaka Okobi 11 Freeport-1 38-06.50
2 1340 Danay Spencer 11 St.John the Bap1 38-02.00

2 626 Melissa Kurzdorfer 8 Lancaster-1 43-03.50
3 333 Monica Ridgeway 12 Liverpool-1 43-00.00
NOTES: The top three in the state are all here and your guess is a good as mine.
How about 8th grader Kursdorfer tossing it out there 43-03.
Event 14 Girls Discus Throw Division 1
1 333 Monica Ridgeway 12 Liverpool-1 130-05
2 1167 Melissa Johnson 11 Ward Melville-1 130-05
NOTES: This is an event that should have some surprises as a ton of girls are within
7 feet of the leader.
Event 17 Girls 4x100 Meter Relay Division 1
1 Hempstead-1 47.87
2 Benjamin Cardozo-1 47.88
3 Uniondale-1 48.15
NOTES: Uniondale ran 47.32 at Penn and Hempstead 47.48 so it’s a three way battle.
Same old story here – stick passes win this one.
Event 18 Girls 4x400 Meter Relay Division 1
1 Boys & Girls-1 3:48.28
2 Colonie-1 3:55.01
3 Pine Bush-1 3:55.44
4 Warwick Valley-1 3:56.14
5 Mount Vernon-1 3:57.64
6 Suffern-1 3:58.54
NOTES: Boys and Girls are heavy favorites as their “B” team ran 3:55 at quals but
don’t sleep on Mt. Vernon who held most of their team out of other events for this one.
Also, Suffern can go a lot faster with a sub from the relay they qualified with.

1 Holy Names Academy-2 3:59.81
2 Bronxville-2 4:02.44
3 Waverly-2 4:03.24
NOTES: I’d pick Bronxville in this one as they ran 3:58 earlier in the year and
have everyone fresh for the relay. Can’t count out Holy Names of course.
Event 505 Girls 1500 Meter Run Championship
1 862 Theresa Rush 12 Val. Str. North1 4:32.64
2 115 Kristin Reese 10 Carmel-1 4:35.74
3 122 Alana Levy 11 Horace Greeley-1 4:36.44
4 318 Leah Andrianos 11 E Syr.-Minoa-1 4:36.88

6 849 Brianna Welch 8 North Shore-1 4:39.34
7 356 Elizabeth McMahon 11 West Genesee-1 4:42.47
NOTES: Reese has more in the tank that her 4:35 though Rush has proven to be very
hard to beat and has a ton of experience. Welch can mov up but will be on her 3rd
race of the weekend by this time.
8 106 Tori Flannery 9 Bronxville-2 4:44.04
11 233 Chelsea Borbolla 11 Greenwich-2 4:44.53
13 550 Ellen Muster 11 Marion-2 4:44.73
14 239 Claire Hardwick 10 Holy Names-2 4:45.24
NOTES: Flannery is tough and Borbolla will be on her 3rd race of the weekend.
Flannery closes well – it might be her.
Event 506 Girls 3000 Meter Run Championship
1 253 Hannah Davidson 10 Saratoga-1 9:47.94
2 260 Jillian King 10 Scotia-1 9:54.92
3 965 Aislinn Ryan 12 Warwick Valley-1 9:55.74
4 1114 Callie Hogan 11 Bayshore-1 10:01.95
5 609 Catherine Lusardi 10 East Aurora-2 10:11.76
15 109 Henrietta Miers 8 Bronxville-2 10:26.74
16 234 Emily Fung 10 Greenwich-2 10:27.89
NOTES: D-1 comes down to Davidson running great again Ryan, who had run 9:46 this season.
King will be there for a while but hasn’t proven she can beat these girls yet.
Perhaps it’s her time to break through. D-2 should be Lusardi but I never bet against
Bronxville or Greenwich.
Event 509 Girls 2000 Meter Steeplechase Championship
1 254 Lindsay Ferguson 12 Saratoga-1 6:50.75
2 527 Allison Sawyer 11 Hilton-1 6:51.22
3 530 Liz Deir 11 Honeoye Falls-1 6:54.96
4 159 Kara McKenna 12 Suffern-1 6:57.14
NOTES: It’s Ferguson, the national record holder at 6:36, vs. McKenna, who’s run 6:45.
Some others will be there for a while but hard to pick against Ferguson.
6 146 Reilly Kiernan 12 Pelham-2 7:05.44
7 353 Brittany Burns 12 S. Jefferson-2 7:07.14
10 141 Caitrin Demchko 11 Pearl River-2 7:11.04
NOTES: Kiernan has gotten a little better all season but Demchko made a huge
improvement just to qualify. Burns is right there. Might come down to who
goes out the smartest since they’ll be in the same race as the D-1 girls.
Event 510 Girls Outdoor Pentathlon Championship
1 437 Nele Baade 12 Thomas Edison-2 3314
2 145 Keva Ramsey 12 Peekskill-1 3203
3 629 Brianna Steel 11 Newfane-2 3084
NOTES: The top two seeds are in different divisions but the battle for the
Federation title should be a good one. Ramsey went over 3400 last year and could again.
Event 515 Girls High Jump Championship
1 212 Brittany Dexter 12 Burnt Hills-1 5-08.00
2 136 Carin Knight 12 New Rochelle-1 5-06.00
3 567 Hanna Bartleson 9 Sodus-2 5-05.00
4 851 Kristen Serikstad 12 Oyster Bay-2 5-05.00
5 914 Kristen Burpoe 11 Marlboro-2 5-04.00
7 510 Jessica Marianacci 12 Bloomfield-2 5-04.00
NOTES: Dexter vs. Knight again. It was a jump off at states indoor and could
be again as they are the only two in the state to go over 5’08” this season.
D-II battle comes down to who has the best day and how many misses.
Event 516 Girls Pole Vault Championship
1 967 Stephanie Duffy 11 Washingtonville1 11-06.00
2 149 Rachel Cassata 12 Somers-1 11-00.00

6 1153 Michelle Quirk 11 Sayville-1 10-06.00
8 514 Naomi Mark 12 Dansville-2 10-01.00
12 424 Kristina Gifft 12 Lansing-2 10-00.00
13 301 Jodi Fox 11 Adirondack-2 10-00.00
14 426 Carol Melice 10 Lansing-2 10-00.00
NOTES: Duffy has been consistent a Cassata has been coming on of late.
Whoever deals with the conditions the best could win this one.
Event 519 Girls 4x800 Meter Relay Championship
1 Suffern-1 9:08.44
2 Honeoye Falls-Lima-1 9:10.75
3 Sayville-1 9:12.58
4 Saratoga-1 9:14.64
5 Bronxville-2 9:18.04
6 Hilton-1 9:18.57
7 Warwick Valley-1 9:19.84
NOTES: A who’s who among NTN teams and candidates and national champions
and record holders. Suffern’s 8:51.0 they ran last week is the US#2 All time
and they are the heavy favorite. Only McKenna is running a race before the relay.
Sayville has Longman on the anchor ready to make a run at McKenna if Suffern falters.
HFL will be looking out for Bronxville who ran 9:03 last week as they battle
for the D-2 title. Warwick ran 9:00.3 last week so I wouldn’t count them out
and Hilton and Saratoga are two of the best distance teams I the country – ever.
