A National Record for Saratoga's Lindsey

Ferguson with a 6:39.54 winning time

in the 2K steeplechase.

Clockwise from top left: Girls in the 1500m vie at the 450m mark; Brittany Sheffey pulling away with 175m to go; Kenmore East's Justin Craddock won the 800m Federation title a day after losing the Division I title to Nyack's Dan Wallace Perriac; Ben White Leads Lockport's Mark Russel and Guilderland sophomore Brian Rhodes Deavey.  Wite went on to win the 1600m.

Left: In the 800m Division 1 final, Nyack's Dan Wallace Perriac outkicked Kenmore East's Justin Craddock to win in 1:51.08.  Craddock was the NSIC Champion when he set the NYS Indoor Record.  The next day in the Federation Championship, Craddock turned the tables on Wallace-Perriac to win in 1:50.85.  Guilderland's Brian Rhodes-Deavy added the NYS sophomore 800m record to the 1600m he had gotten earlier in the season with his 1:52.25 clocking.  The old record was 1:53.00m-Dennis Webster (Central, Clarence - 1986 & 1:53.6y - Mark Belger (Mepham, Bellmore) - 1972

After North Rockalnd's Right:John Martinez ran 9:13.3 at the Section 1 Class A Championships, which was hte fastest time by a US Prep in 21 years, he looked like the heavy favorite.  But last Monday at the Boys Eastern States, Chaminade Kevin McDermott opened some eyes with his 5:53.67 win in the 2K steeple, prompting fans to wonder and hope for a great match up.  Well, that's what everyone got, as McDermott retook the lead after the final water barrier after leading most of the race to win 9:13.90 to 9:14.97.

Left: Ward Mellville's Michelle Siebert won the 800m Federation title in 2:09.94 a day after getting caught for the Division I title down the home stretch.  Carmel Freshman Kristen Reese ran 2:10.26 for 2nd place.
