Section 1 Rankings 11/04/03

PEARL RIVER – won the merge over Suffern, same team average. 25^th Straight Sectional Title(20 Section 1, 5 Section 9)
SUFFERN - surprisingly this was Suffern’s first ever Sectional title.
BRONXVILLE – 7^th straight sectional title and 16^th since 1980.
JOHN JAY-EF Another valiant effort. Coach had them ready when they needed to be.
TAPPAN ZEE Best TZ squad maybe ever. Great year and have a lot coming back.
HORACE GREELEY - Hauser got sick. Sending 2 girls to state meet.
ARLINGTON - Battled hard for third place in Class A.
NORTH ROCKLAND - an improved year and they bring a lot back.
FOX LANE – a much improved squad. Really came on at the end.
JOHN JAY-CR – came out of the gate looking better than most. Have the ability to be a better team.
– NEW ROCHELLE – Often overlooked in XC, but they are good as pretty much bring back everyone.

BOYS OPEN TEAM RANKINGS

1. NORTH ROCKLAND - three in a row for a Section 1 Class A team for the first time in ages.

2. ARLINGTON – a hard fought battle, but one expects nothing less from Arlington.

3. TAPPAN ZEE - A strong performance, but they can run better.

4. JOHN JAY-EF Hakon back and good races across the board. A very good team.

5. PEARL RIVER –Not their best day, but a solid effort to get TZ.

6. HORACE GREELEY –.A year after everything went their way, things didn’t seem to go their way this year.

6. SOMERS – Very close to Greeley all year, Tuskers had tough time losing 4^th and 5^th after leagues.

8. BRONXVILLE – Another trip to states for the Broncos. Really finished the season well.

9. EDGEMONT – first sectional title in 13 years - coach Youngs had these guys ready when they needed to be.

10. MAHOPAC – Best finish in ages and first state meet qualifier in 25 years.
