Queensbury Invitational - Queensbury HS
The NYSPHSAA Championships will be held here in November
so many teams traveled to the Adirondacks to check out the course.
Just like the NCAA runs a pre-national meet, this meet at the
feel of a pre-state meet.
It was the best Invitational held within NY State
so far this season and the Hilton girls showed they're for real
as they averaged 18:47 to win by 47 points. The Liverpool
boys took the championship race with 112 points over Shen's 125.
Boys Championship Race
Liverpool-112
Shenendehowa-125
Queensbury-137
NOTES: Great 3 way race with Bethlehem's
Matt Shaffer winning in 15:31, Guilderland'd Brian Rhodes-Deavey
at 15:32, and Garden City sophomore Charles White at 15:33.
Liverpool pulled out the win over a strong Shen team and host
Queensbury.
Girls Championship Race
Hilton-39
Holy Names-82
Suffern-92
NOTES: Two girls went under 18:00 this
day, with Hilton's Amanda Grigg's winning in 17:48 and Suffern
freshman Shelby Greaney placing 2nd in 17:58. Holy Names,
ranked only 9th in Class A coming into the meet, ran extremely
well to gain 2nd place and seemingly vault themselves into the
#1 position in Class A after beating #1 ranked Cornwall
convincingly. Scotia Glenville transfer Jillian King, now
running for Holy Names, placed 6th.
