Abraham Alvarado Beats Yusuf Bizimana By .01 Seconds In Men's 800

Makayla Paige led four women under 1:58.5 in the fast section of the women's 800 meters on Saturday at the Sound Running Sunset Tour meet at Occidental College in Los Angeles, a tune-up for the upcoming USATF Outdoor Championships. 

Paige, who finished fourth at the NCAA Championships in 1:58.30, went even faster as she won with a new personal best 1:58.14 and beat Emily Mackay of New Balance (1:58.17), Gabija Galvydyte of the Oregon Track Club (1:58.28) and Meghan Hunter of Nike Swoosh (1:58.43). 

Valery Tobias of Brooks Beasts was fifth in 1:59.91, just ahead of Raevyn Rogers (2:00.48). 

Abraham Alvarado of Under Armour Dark Sky and Yusuf Bizimana pushed one another to fast times in the men's 800 meters. Alvarado edged out Bizimana at the line for the win, 1:44.07 to 1:44.08.

LSU's Shawnti Jackson, representing Brooks, won the women's 100 meters in 11.00 after leaving the field behind with a great start. Mia Brahe-Pedersen, a member of USC's NCAA champion 4x100 relay team, was second in 11.29. 

John Reniewicki of UA Mission Run Baltimore won the men's 1,500 meters in 3:33.59, just ahead of NCAA indoor champion Carter Cutting of BYU, who was second in 3:34.34.

Kayley DeLay of Brooks Beasts won the women's 1,500 meters in 4:04.64 as nine women went under 4:10. Angelina Ellis of Under Armour Dark Sky Distance was second in 4:06.02 and Carlee Hansen of BYU was third in 4:06.18.

In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Yasin Sado of Union Athletics Club beat a deep field in 8:16.03. Benjamin Balasz of Oregon, the Big Ten champion, was second in a personal best 8:17.67. Parker Stokes of Brooks Beasts took third in 8:19.67. James Corrigan, a 2024 Olympian from BYU, was fourth in 8:22.35.

Madie Boreman of Bandit won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:30.82.

Kaisei Okada from Chuo University in Japan won the men's 5,000 meters in 13:19.77. Dylan Jacobs of On Athletics Club was second in 13:20.71.

Wuga He, representing Nike China, won the women's 5,000 in 15:22.23.

In the second section of the women's 800 meters, Krystie Solomon of BYU won in a time of 2:01.35, edging out Michaela Meyer of Saucony (2:01.48), Laura Pellicoro of Brooks Beasts (2:01.79) and Sammy Watson (2:01.81). 

Former Oklahoma State runner Mehdi Yanouri ran a personal best 1:46.91 to win the second section of the men's 800 meters. 

Cain Evans of Oregon won the third section of the men's 800 in a personal best 1:47.81.

Damien Dilcher of Under Armour won the third section of the men's 1,500 meters in 3:40.81. Tomas Palfrey of Oregon won the second section in 3:41.52.

Kylie Finger from Wisconsin won the second section of the women's 1,500 meters in 4:08.58. Maggie Smith ran 4:12.95 to win the third section.
