Three New US #1s Highlight Millrose Games TrialsPublished by
Carson Edwards Beats Jordaine Johnson In 55-Meter Dash, Matches US #1 With 6.31 By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor The Manhasset NY boys 4x800 relay team and the Toms River North NJ boys 4x400 relay team not only nailed down their spots at the Millrose Games on Wednesday at The Armory, they put up US#1 times. The Millrose Games Trials served to help fill out the high school fields at the Armory's biggest day of the season, the 117th Millrose Games on Feb. 8. Manhasset used a lineup of John Hogan, Cole Thalheimer, Nicolas Katsoulis and Ryan Boldi to run a time of 7:55.00. Shoreham Wading River ran a US#6 time of 8:03.09 for second. Toms River North nearly broke 3:20 with a lineup of Mordecai Ford, Camryn Thomas, Taysaun Wilson and Mamadi Diawara. The team ran 3:20.01. Winslow Township NJ was second in a US#3 time of 3:22.14. Carson Edwards of the Field School DC matched the nation's top time in the 55-meter dash with 6.31 seconds and earned a spot on the starting line at the Millrose Games. He defeated Jordaine Johnson of East Orange NJ, who is US#1 in the 200. Edwards is entered in Saturday's Montgomery Indoor Invitational in Landover, Md. Luke Pash of Ridgewood won the boys mile in a time of 4:15.51 to earn a spot on the starting line at Millrose. His time moves him to US#5. Freshman Adriana Pettinelli from Scarsdale NY won the girls invitational mile in 4:52.08 to earn her spot in the Feb. 8 race. Pettinelli's time was a personal best and US#2. Seven girls ran under five minutes. Athaleyha Hinckinson from Medgar Evers NY edged out Union Catholic NJ's Taylor Cox, 6.91 to 6.92 to win the 55-meter dash. Hinckinson's time is US#5 and Cox moved to US#6. Winslow Township NJ ran a US#2 time of 3:50.90 to win the 4x400 relay with Jasmine Jackson, Olivia Okaro, Skyhe Seamon and Cinniya Robinson. Winslow Township also won the invitational 4x800 in US#5 9:32.92. |
