Doris Lemngole, Jane Hedengren, and Josette Norris Headline Women's 3000m at 118th Millrose GamesPublished by
Armory Release Athletes continue to be announced for the 118th Millrose Games, scheduled for Saturday, February 1st 2026 at the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory. The Women’s 3000m will be a major race to watch, as Doris Lemngole and Jane Hedengren, the two biggest stars in NCAA distance running, are slated to renew their budding rivalry, but they will both have to contend with Josette Andrews, last year’s runner-up. Doris Lemngole of Alabama is the NCAA champion and NCAA record holder in the 3000m steeplechase. Competing against professional women, she won the steeplechase at the Lausanne Diamond League meet, and placed fourth at the World Championships for Kenya. Most recently, she successfully defended her NCAA cross country title, her fifth NCAA championship in total. Last week, Lemngole was named the 2025 Bowerman Award winner as the year’s top student-athlete in all of track and field. “I am excited and looking forward to competing at the Millrose Games, especially given its prestige and historic significance,” said Lemngole. “It is a great opportunity!” Jane Hedengren is perhaps the most talented prospect in the history of American women’s distance running, as she rewrote the high school record book from 1500m to 5000m this past year. In her freshman cross country campaign at BYU, Hedengren went undefeated until the national meet, where she placed second behind Lemngole. Hedengren promptly obliterated the NCAA 5000m record two weeks later, running 14:44.79 to open her indoor season. The NCAA record in the 3000m is 8:35.20, set by Katelyn Tuohy at the 2023 Millrose Games. This mark is sure to be under heavy threat from both Lemngole and Hedengren. Also scheduled to compete is Josette Andrews, who is looking to improve on her second-place finish in this event. The local favorite from Tenafly, NJ had a breakthrough year in 2025, placing sixth in the 5000m at the World Championships. Andrews also has top five finishes to her name at the World Indoor Championships and the Diamond League Final. The 118th Millrose Games is a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meet. Other athletes announced include Grant Fisher, Cole Hocker, Elle St. Pierre, Jess Hull, Nikki Hiltz, Joe Kovacs, Yared Nuguse, Hobbs Kessler, Cameron Myers, Julien Alfred, Devynne Charlton and Danielle Williams.
