National High School Boys Team Rankings - 11/13Published by
New Jersey Power Christian Brothers Rises Up To No. 4, Postseason Meets Begin To Draw Top Teams Together By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor More than 40 state meets are now in the books and the NXR slate of meets began on Sunday with the Heartland meet in South Dakota. The national picture in boys high school cross country gets a little bit clearer with each passing week. Christian Brothers Academy made meaningful jump into the top five his week with a strong performance at the Non-Public Group A final at famed Holmdel Park. Luke Hnatt and Gavin Schmitt led the way to a victory with 51 points. While many teams remain idle as they prepare for the blockbuster Nov. 22 weekend, No. 3 Coeur d'Alene ID and No. 6 Jesuit OR will meet up in Spokane at NXR Northwest. It will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. Coeur d'Alene won the first at the Hole In The Wall Invitational. Mead, which won its first Class 4A champion in Washington in 17 years, has entered the rankings at No. 19. Christ School NC and McCallie School TN have both entered the top 10 with impressive performances and that sets the state for what could be very good NXR Southeast. Those two will go head to head while No. 13 Belen Jesuit FL competes at its state meet on the same day. At NXR Midwest on Sunday, Indiana champion Columbus North is the favorite and a pair of contenders, Northville and Ann Arbor Pioneer, will be looking to become the first boys teams from Michigan to qualify for Nike Cross Nationals. (For many years, Michigan's state association blocked participation). Illinois champion Plainfield North and runner-up Downers Grove will try to maintain their state's dominance of the regional meet. Illinois has been represented at all 19 previous NXNs. At the top, Niwot of Colorado remains the clear favorite moving forward and will face No 5 Herriman UT, No. 8 American Fork UT, No. 21 Coronado CO and No. 28 Riverton UT at NXR Southwest.
